This checklist
covers the minimum expectation for systems being used with the
IFEA Virtual Campus.
Although great care has been taken to design courses that run on
the widest array of configurations, it is the end-user’s
responsibility to ensure that any additional demands on resources
made by either third party software or hardware not listed below be
taken into account when assessing a system for the IFEA Virtual Campus. Software Requirementsq Windows 98/2K/XP or Greater q Internet Explorer 5.5 or Greater q Macromedia Flash Player version 6 or
Greater q Sun JVM version 1.4 or Greater q Microsoft JVM version 1.1 or Greater Hardware Requirementsq Pentium 500mhz CPU or Greater or
Equivalent q 64 MB available system RAM (128 MB
recommended) q 1024 x 768, 16-bit (thousands of colors)
color display or better q Standard Mouse and Keyboard q Internet Connection 56k or greater |
| Where can I get the latest
version of Adobe Acrobat Reader? | |
1. Click the link the Get Adobe Reader link below:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
2. Before downloading uncheck the boxes under "Also Download"
for "Adobe Yahoo Toolbar" and "Adobe Album Starter". The Adobe
Yahoo Toolbar will install a pop-up blocker which will not allow
courses to launch properly.
3. Click "Download" and follow the on-screen instructions.
| Why do I need additional
components installed and configured to run my courses
properly? | |
|
Java Components (JVM) - The JVM components communicate data
(e.g., grades and course completion) from courses to the servers.
The systems check ensures that two JVMs (Sun and Microsoft) are
present and properly installed because different courseware vendors
employ different JVMs. Macromedia Flash Player – Many of the courses are built using
the Macromedia Flash Player. This player is used because of its
ability to stream audio and video without compromising extensive
bandwidth and quality of audio or video. Without this component,
many of the courses would not display audio and video within a
course. Internet Explorer 5.5 or Greater – Internet Explorer 5.5 (or
later) makes more efficient use of the courseware's multimedia
components, including the Flash Player and the JVMs. Without
Internet Explorer 5.5 (or later), several of the courses may not be
able to use the JVM and Flash Player components. |
Is there a sign-up deadline for the courses? There is no deadline. Your subscription allows you to enroll
on-demand.
How do I get my username and password?Once you purchase a subscription and your order has
been processed, you will receive a welcome letter by e-mail within
1-2 business days with your username and password to enter
IFEA's Virtual
Campus.
What are the payment options? You may pay by credit card, check, money order, or purchase
order.
Do I have to take a course and test in one
sitting? No. You will receive yearlong access to the IFEA Virtual Campus and all courses. You
may go through an entire course or just portions of a
course during the one-year period. After starting the test for a
particular course, however, you will not be able to exit until all
questions have been answered.
